Expanded discipline rules for police and corrections

The law extends officer discipline procedures to security staff at local correctional and detention facilities. Those facilities and government employers must follow the procedures. For covered officers, questioning counts as a formal statement when the information will support discipline or serve as disciplinary evidence. The statement no longer needs to be recorded, taken in shorthand, or signed. These rules do not apply to investigations of criminal charges against an officer.
