The law allows one designated safety-net, Level I trauma hospital in Ramsey County to add 85 licensed beds. This replaces permission to move up to 26 long-term acute care beds there from Hennepin County. The hospital is not required to build the new beds. The expansion requires annual reports to the state health department using data that does not identify patients.
