The law updates who qualifies and what proof is accepted for veteran and disabled‑veteran license plates. You count as a veteran if you served on active duty or in a reserve of any U.S. Armed Forces branch and were discharged under conditions other than dishonorable. For a disabled‑veteran plate, you must be certified with at least a 10% service‑connected disability and have a discharge other than dishonorable. You may present a valid Veteran ID Card from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs instead of a DD214. If you do not have a DD214, the Military and Veterans Affairs Office can certify your status from other records.
