Legislative pay and vendor payments stay protected

The law allows up to 270 calendar days to put the Legislature’s new Finance Department into operation. During this transition, the Northern Mariana Islands Department of Finance must continue processing and making all Legislative Branch payments. Payroll, member allowances, vendor payments, and other financial obligations must continue without disruption. The transition allows time to establish independent banking, accounting, payroll, purchasing, and reporting systems.
