Typhoon recovery money for Tinian and Aguiguan
The law allocates $156,000 to the Office of the Mayor of Tinian and Aguiguan from Second Senatorial District poker-fee revenues. The money supports operations, personnel, and public programs for emergency response and urgent recovery after Super Typhoon Sinlaku. The Mayor controls spending, and the money cannot be redirected to other purposes. The funds have no fiscal-year deadline. This local funding is separate from the fiscal year 2026 Budget Act.
Tinian funding recipients face reporting penalties
The Department of Finance can transfer $156,000, or less as needed, to the Tinian Municipal Treasurer. Transferred money remains under the Finance Secretary's oversight and Commonwealth accounting and audit rules. The Treasurer must submit monthly spending reports with supporting documents in the department's required format. Recipients must report all expenses to the Finance Secretary by December 31, 2026. Recipients that fail to report lose access to future funding from the Tinian and Aguiguan Legislative Delegation.
