Rota gets funds for typhoon recovery

The law redirects $80,000 in Rota poker-fee funds to the mayor’s office for recovery after Super Typhoon Sinlaku. This combines $60,000 previously allotted under one local law and $20,000 under another into a single fund. The Secretary of Finance must transfer $80,000, or as much as needed, to the Rota Municipal Treasurer. The mayor controls spending for emergency operations, staff, and public programs. The money is reserved for emergency response and recovery, with no fiscal-year deadline. The law does not create individual payments.

Rota recovery recipients face reporting rules

The Rota Municipal Treasurer must send monthly expense reports and supporting documents to the Secretary of Finance. Reports must use the format set by the Department of Finance. Transferred money remains subject to Commonwealth accounting and audit rules and the Secretary’s oversight. Fund recipients must report all expenses to the Secretary of Finance by the end of 2026. Recipients that fail to report cannot receive future funds from the Tinian & Aguiguan Legislative Delegation.
