The law updates corporate filing records in the Northern Mariana Islands. Domestic and foreign corporations can request a unique document number at filing, stamped or printed on the original and copy. The Registrar must mark each document “Filed,” with the Registrar’s name, title, and receipt date and time. After filing, the Registrar must return a copy to the corporation or its representative, except where existing law provides otherwise. Corporate name listings must include the Articles of Incorporation filing number when one was assigned. Within 60 days after the law takes effect, the Commerce Secretary must create a public database on the Registrar’s website. People can search Articles of Incorporation or Certificates of Authority by assigned filing number and see all Certificate of Existence information. The law takes effect upon the Governor’s approval or becoming law without approval.
