Military medics gain a practical nursing pathway

Beginning July 1, 2025, qualifying military medics can take Mississippi’s licensed practical nurse exam. Eligible specialties are U.S. Army Combat Medic Specialists, Navy Hospital Corpsmen, and Air Force Aerospace Medical Service Specialists. They must complete military training, followed by two years of clinical experience involving direct patient care. Applicants need a high school diploma or equivalent and must meet Board of Nursing application, records, and licensing investigation requirements. Those whose first language is not English must show nursing-related English skills. They must pass the written exam to get a license.
