Beginning July 1, 2025, public defenders and county prosecutors get free access to the Mississippi Electronic Court system. This applies only to matters involving indigent defendants—people who cannot afford a lawyer. The law also keeps the electronic filing requirement for Mississippi’s circuit, chancery, and county courts, with its July 1, 2021 deadline. That requirement covers serving, filing, signing, or verifying court papers under the system’s procedures.
