Mississippi funds firefighters and windstorm insurance

Beginning July 1, 2025, Mississippi directs insurance policy fee revenue to first responders, windstorm insurance, and fire services. Each year, $500,000 goes to the Mississippi First Responders Health and Safety Trust Fund. Another $12 million annually goes to the Mississippi Windstorm Underwriting Association. Any remaining revenue goes 40% to the Rural Fire Truck Fund, 30% to the Municipal Fire Protection Fund, and 30% to the County Volunteer Fire Department Fund. These allocations support services, not direct household payments.
