Behavioral health providers can keep seeing patients

The law bans contract terms that stop listed behavioral health providers from practicing anywhere after they leave a job or partnership. It also bans clauses that block them from treating, advising, consulting, or forming relationships with an employer’s current or affiliated patients. It bans clauses that stop them from reaching out to those patients. It applies to psychiatrists and addiction medicine physicians, psychologists, social workers, professional counselors, addiction counselors, marriage and family therapists, and behavioral health peer support specialists. It does not apply to contracts tied to the sale or purchase of a practice.
