The law expands who counts as a victim in Montana Youth Court cases. A victim includes any person harmed in property, body, or emotions by a youth’s act that would be a crime for an adult. If the victim is a minor, an adult relative also counts as a victim. Adult relatives of homicide victims count as victims. Corporations and other entities can also be victims. Victims get the rights and services that come with victim status in youth court. This change is now in effect.
