Montana Highway Patrol officers can arrest for any offense on highways, rest areas, nearby state highway property, and the state Capitol Complex. They can also arrest for crimes that involve a motor vehicle or its registration, and serve arrest warrants tied to those violations. The law takes effect upon passage and approval.
