Owners of tax-exempt property face 8-year reviews

The Montana Department of Revenue runs regular reviews of many property tax exemptions. It covers exempt property under Title 15, chapter 6, part 2 that required an application. Each property is reviewed at least once every eight years. Reviews can confirm your exemption or end it, which can raise your property tax bill. Every two years, the department reports counts, types, approvals and denials, and the value of exemptions reviewed. It also posts a public map by county and exemption type with owner, address, parcel size, and property details.
