2 provisions identified: 1 benefits, 0 costs, 1 mixed.

Higher pensions for volunteer firefighters

Beginning July 1, 2025, the full monthly pension for eligible volunteer firefighters is $200 (was $175). If you have fewer than 20 years, your partial pension is $200 times your years of service divided by 20. For example, 10 years pays $100 per month. If you serve past 20 years, you get $7.50 more per month for each year from 21 to 30, up to $75.

Extra pension after 30 years with limits

After 30 years of credited service, eligible members who retire after July 1, 2011 can get $7.50 more per month for each year over 30. This only applies when the pension trust is actuarially sound and any unfunded liabilities amortize in 20 years or less. These extra payments are not a contract right. If the amortization period goes above 20 years, the extras stop and your benefit is reduced to the 20-to-30-year amount.
