Juniors and seniors earn care-work credit

Beginning July 1, 2025, Montana high school juniors and seniors can earn elective credit for paid or volunteer work in care settings. Qualifying places include congregate-care facilities, licensed child-care sites, and school-age programs. You earn one elective credit for every 250 hours, up to two credits. Schools must offer a written application listing the site’s contact, your supervisor, what you did, and your hours. Schools set deadlines and must verify hours before granting credit. Schools may set extra rules about the kind of work that counts, and they must approve your application before credit is awarded.
