New crime for stolen guns and ammo

The law makes it a crime to have a stolen gun or stolen ammunition. You commit it if you purposely and knowingly receive, hold, hide, trade, sell, or get rid of a stolen gun or ammo. A conviction can mean up to 10 years in state prison. This offense also counts toward the state’s definition of a criminal street gang pattern. The goal is to curb stolen guns and improve public safety.
