Bill Overview

Analyzed Economic Effects

4 provisions identified: 0 benefits, 3 costs, 1 mixed.

Clinical lab licenses require application and fee

Starting 2026-01-01, clinical laboratory scientists, specialists, and technicians must apply and pay a board-set fee to get licensed. The Department issues a license if you meet the board’s rules.

Radiologic tech license needs nonrefundable fee

Starting 2026-01-01, the board issues a radiologic technologist license only if you meet the rules and pay a nonrefundable fee. The board sets the fee amount. You must satisfy all licensure requirements to get the license.

Respiratory care license: education, exam, fee

Starting 2026-01-01, to get a respiratory care license you must pay the board’s application fee, finish high school or the equivalent, complete an accredited or provisionally accredited respiratory care program, and pass the board’s exam (such as the NBRC test). The board sets the exact rules.

One board now regulates allied health

Beginning 2026-01-01, the law creates the Board of Facility Allied Health Care Professionals with seven members: two lab scientists, two radiologic technologists, two respiratory therapists, and one public member. The board sets licensing rules, exams, and fees. The Department of Labor and Industry issues and renews licenses under these rules. The law repeals the old separate boards and moves their duties to this board. For radiologic technologist rules, the board, the Labor Department, or Public Health and Human Services can inspect facilities for compliance.
