Montana wildfire response study and report

The Environmental Quality Council must study how Montana fights wildfires. The study covers state and federal work, including on tribal and private land. It looks at how equipment and firefighters are used and how private resources help. It also reviews forest and grazing policies that may raise fire risk or harm firefighter safety. The Council must finish by September 15, 2026 and report to the 70th Legislature. This law ends on December 31, 2026.

One-time $50,000 for wildfire study

The law provides $50,000 from the general fund to the Legislative Services Division. The money pays costs for the wildfire suppression study. The funds cover the 2025–2027 biennium that starts July 1, 2025.
