Tighter rules for business campaign donations

The law limits which LLCs and partnerships can donate to candidates. Candidates may accept donations only from entities taxed as a sole proprietorship (disregarded) or as a partnership. Donations from entities taxed as C corporations or S corporations are not allowed. If you give through an LLC or partnership, the campaign must report the gift under your name under 13-37-229. If you are named for that entity gift, you cannot also make a separate personal donation to that candidate; your total must follow individual limits in 13-37-219 and 13-37-216.
