New state data and impact commission

The law creates the Government Evidence Data and Impact Commission. It designs an evidence and impact system and recommends how to collect and use data to judge programs and spending. Voting and nonvoting members include legislative leaders, agency heads, and one public member. Starting June 1, 2025, it meets quarterly when the Legislature is out of session, and every meeting includes public comment. It must receive reports on data systems, program efficiency, oversight for data access, and the cost to provide efficient data access. The commission ends December 31, 2026.

Funding and support for data commission

The Department of Administration staffs the commission and pays its operating costs. The law appropriates $75,000 from the general fund for the biennium that ends June 30, 2025 and into the biennium beginning July 1, 2025. Budget and fiscal offices must provide research on request, and the Legislative Services Division provides audio and visual support for Capitol meetings. Appointed members receive per-day pay and travel reimbursement under state law for commission work.
