Grant cuts in shortfall; unspent funds revert

If the trust fund has too little money, awards over $2,000 are cut proportionally. The $30,000 Montana Historical Society award is exempt. Any unspent grant money for the 2025–2027 period goes back to the trust fund on July 1, 2027.

Arts grants with new publicity rules

The Montana Arts Council provides $953,500 in grants for listed arts projects in the 2025–2027 biennium. The council pays organizations by contract and within the amounts in this law. Each grantee must display: "Additional support from coal tax placed into Montana's Cultural and Aesthetic Projects Trust Fund." Contracts also bind any conditions listed with the award. Funding starts July 1, 2025.

Capitol artwork care gets $30,000

The state provides $30,000 to the Montana Historical Society to care for capitol complex artwork. The money is for the 2025–2027 biennium and comes from the cultural and aesthetic projects trust fund. This takes effect July 1, 2025.
