More survivor help for public safety families

The law expands who counts as a dependent child in highway patrol, municipal police, and firefighter retirement systems. Unmarried children under 18 qualify. Unmarried children under 24 also qualify if they attend an accredited secondary or college program full time and are pursuing a certificate or degree. For highway patrol, this applies to children of deceased retired members. For police and firefighters, it applies to children of deceased members. This lets more families receive survivor pension checks.
