Bill Overview

Analyzed Economic Effects

5 provisions identified: 4 benefits, 1 costs, 0 mixed.

Interstate practice for speech therapists

If you meet the compact’s eligibility rules in state law, the board extends compact practice privileges. This lets eligible speech-language pathologists and audiologists practice across state lines under the compact.

Physician telehealth rules and license carryover

The medical board sets rules for how doctors use telemedicine in Montana. A physician license that was valid and not expired before July 1, 2015 stays valid until its next renewal, unless the licensee is under disciplinary action.

Standard seal and court-ready records

Licensing boards now use an official seal to authenticate licenses and records. Licenses and certificates must bear the board’s seal. Signed and sealed copies of board records count as valid evidence, and courts treat certified copies like originals. Some board seals are judicially noticed. Older, conflicting board-organization and seal rules are repealed to fit this standard.

No conflicts on real estate board

The real estate board’s presiding officer and department staff who serve the board cannot be officers or paid employees of real estate groups. This reduces conflicts of interest in board decisions.

Sealed proof for landscape architect businesses

To get a city or county business license to practice landscape architecture, you must show current registration under the board’s seal and the secretary’s signature. Local officials do not issue the license until you provide that sealed evidence.
