More gear help for disabled bowhunters

Beginning July 1, 2025, you can add a $1 or more donation when you buy or apply for a Montana hunting license. The money goes to a new program that buys modified archery gear for hunters with disabilities. The state creates a special account for donations, interest, gifts, and grants. The department works with 501(c)(3) nonprofits to purchase the gear and give it to eligible Montana hunters. These donations follow the new account rules, not the general fish-and-game deposit rules.

New rules for hunting license agents

Starting July 1, 2025, license agents must send donations they collect for the disabled bowhunters program to the department. Donations do not count as a transaction for commission payments. If an agent is late sending funds, the department can charge interest at the statutory rate and may revoke the appointment under its rules.
