Bill Overview

Analyzed Economic Effects

3 provisions identified: 2 benefits, 0 costs, 1 mixed.

Double mileage rate for private planes

Authorized travelers who use their own airplane for official work are paid for the nautical miles actually flown. The rate is twice the IRS motor‑vehicle mileage rate per nautical mile.

IRS mileage for legislators and jurors

Legislators, jurors, witnesses, county agents, and other non‑employees get the IRS mileage rate for the first 1,000 miles each calendar month. For miles over 1,000 that month, they get the IRS rate minus $0.03 per mile.

Mileage pay rules for state workers

State employees who use a private car while a state car is available get 48.15% of the IRS rate per mile. If no state car is available or the agency says your car is best, you get the full IRS rate for the first 1,000 miles in a calendar month. For miles over 1,000 that month, you get the IRS rate minus $0.03 per mile. You must attach a notice of unavailability or an approved exemption to the claim.
