Administrator runs pretrial, treatment, legal aid

The Court Administrator runs legal help for indigent domestic violence victims. The administrator oversees the state’s pretrial program. The administrator also manages the treatment court support account.

Administrator handles court budgets and data

The Court Administrator prepares and presents judicial budget requests, including district court costs. The administrator collects and reports court statistics and gives them to the Legislature when asked, following state reporting rules. The administrator aligns court IT with the state’s strategic IT plan and recommends improvements to the judiciary. The administrator also manages state funding for district courts.

Chief justice appoints court administrator

The Chief Justice appoints the Court Administrator and can remove them at any time. The administrator is the court’s top administrative officer and works under the Chief Justice’s direction. The law takes effect on passage and approval and applies to any administrator already in office.

Court administrator runs staff HR plan

The Supreme Court adopts a personnel plan for judicial branch employees. The plan covers job classification and pay, hiring, performance reviews, training, and promotions. It does not cover justices, judges, the Supreme Court administrator, the state law librarian, or the Supreme Court clerk. The Court Administrator, under the Chief Justice, manages this plan.
