Violating the garbage-feeding law is a misdemeanor. A court can fine you $50 to $250 for each day you broke the law. You can also be jailed for up to 6 months. A judge can order you to stop the conduct.
The law makes it illegal to handle, prepare, cook, or feed garbage to pigs or other animals. You may feed only your own household garbage to animals you own. Garbage includes meat, fish, poultry, carcasses, food prep and cooking waste, and packaging. Waste with no animal products is not garbage under this law. Anyone who handles or feeds this material is a garbage feeder and must follow the ban.
