Bans after convictions on block lands

If you are convicted for breaking access rules or any part of Titles 45 or 87 while on block management lands, you are banned from all lands that join the enforcement network. A first conviction bans you for the rest of the current license year. A second conviction bans you for up to three consecutive license years. A third conviction bans you for life.

New enforcement help for enrolled landowners

The law creates the Montana block management enforcement network to help landowners enforce rules on block management lands. Only landowners already in the block management program can choose to join. Opting in does not waive a landowner’s right to deny access for cause. A landowner can leave the network at any time. A landowner may also allow someone back onto their land even if that person is restricted by the network. People using these lands must follow all posted access rules. The department gives visitors clear education on the rules and penalties. The Fish and Wildlife Commission may set rules to run the network.
