New Montana registration rules for telecom providers

The law requires any telecom provider to file a notice with the Montana Public Service Commission before offering service. The notice must include company and dispute‑contact info; service areas, tariffs or price lists, and services; affiliates and ownership; facilities and whether service is resale or facilities‑based; intent to seek universal service support or eligible telecommunications carrier status; and any penalties in the past 5 years. Non‑corporate providers must also list owners, managers, creation date, and a Montana agent for service, plus any other information the commission requires. Providers must report any court or regulator judgment, penalty, or sanction in another place that could harm their service in Montana. The commission may waive some filing items and must adopt rules to run this program. The law takes effect on passage and approval.
