Elk hunting plans must weigh landowners
When setting elk management plans, the Fish and Wildlife Commission must consider landowner tolerance. Landowner tolerance means a written or documented verbal opinion from an affected landowner about effects on their property. This can lead to limits on elk hunting on public land near private property in that hunting district.
Public access rules on private land
The Fish and Wildlife Commission can adopt a landowner’s rules for public use of private land that has an active public access agreement with the state. These rules can limit or condition how people use that land. The change applies only to private property covered by an active access agreement managed by Fish, Wildlife & Parks. The law takes effect immediately.
