Tax credit for school scholarship donations

You can get a federal tax credit when you donate to a certified scholarship group. North Carolina now takes part in this program and publishes an annual list of approved groups. Only gifts to groups on that list count for the credit, and the state sends the list to the U.S. Treasury. The credit amount and limits follow federal law (26 U.S.C. § 25F). Listed groups may fund K–12, including homeschool, expenses as federal law allows.
