Rural Hall leaves county fire tax in 2026
The law removes Rural Hall from the Forsyth County fire service district. If your property was inside Rural Hall on January 1, 2026, you stop owing the county fire district tax for taxable years that begin on or after July 1, 2026. Pre‑existing Forsyth County ad valorem tax liens stay valid. This section takes effect June 30, 2026.
Spruce Pine can annex more areas
Spruce Pine is no longer limited by the 10% cap on noncontiguous annexations. This takes effect June 24, 2026. If your area is annexed, you may get town services and also face new town taxes or rules.
