Bill Overview

Analyzed Economic Effects

3 provisions identified: 2 benefits, 0 costs, 1 mixed.

Physician CME rules, audits, and alternatives

Physicians licensed in North Dakota must complete continuing education set by the board and show proof before renewal. Each renewal cycle must include at least 1 hour on nutrition and metabolic health. The board may accept ABMS, AOA, or RCPSC certification instead of CME, or grant exemptions by rule. If you miss an audit response, the board can treat that as noncompliance and hold a hearing. Noncompliance can trigger a fee up to three times your licensure fee, plus other penalties.

Online course on North Dakota medical law

The medical board posts a course on its website about state laws tied to medical practice (chapters 12.1-19.1, 14-02.1, and 14-02.6). The Office of Management and Budget contracts for it, and the Attorney General approves it. The board updates it over time. Using the course does not create a right to sue the board.

Law takes effect when filed

The law takes effect on the date it is filed with the Secretary of State.
