2 provisions identified: 1 benefits, 0 costs, 1 mixed.
New Jersey calculates covered employers’ State Disability Benefits Fund rates without counting family leave benefits, related worker contributions, or fund transfers. The calculation also excludes benefit increases from the July 1, 2020 weekly benefit rate change. The law took effect December 12, 2024, and applies to wages paid on or after January 1, 2024. These exclusions can lower employer contribution costs, but the provision gives no specific rate or dollar savings.
Beginning January 1, 2024, New Jersey redirects 0.0200% of covered worker wages to the Unemployment Compensation Administration Fund. This covers workers at qualifying private employers, nonprofits, and government employers. The worker rate going to the unemployment compensation fund is 0.3625%. That rate is 0.0625% for workers at government employers that pay benefit costs instead of regular employer contributions. This redirects part of worker contributions; it does not establish an increase in the total worker rate.
