Beginning January 30, 2025, New Jersey's Division of Child Protection and Permanency cannot collect covered child support obligations or overdue amounts existing by that date. These debts must be for a child's care while in the agency's care or custody; judgment fees for those debts are canceled. Unpaid civil judgments for these debts existing by that date are void and must be removed. Covered property liens under the former law that remained in effect immediately before that date are also void and must be removed. Warrants issued by that date must be reviewed and canceled if based solely on alleged nonpayment of these debts or related monetary penalties, or missing a court date solely to enforce them.
