New Mexico employers must meet job-count tests at each location to claim the high-wage jobs tax credit. At the first 12-month period’s end, the location needs at least one more qualifying job than before the new job began. Later periods must keep at least that first-period ending count. Counted jobs must meet wage rules and have an eligible worker for at least 44 of the first 52 weeks. Employers must report these job counts in annual credit applications. The law sets July 1, 2026, as the cutoff for creating eligible jobs.
