More county help for low-income health costs

New Mexico counties can use the County Health Care Assistance Fund to help patients who qualify as indigent. Allowed uses include paying all or part of monthly premiums for public or private health coverage. Counties can also pay insured patients' copayments, deductibles, and other out-of-pocket costs covered by their plan's terms. The fund can pay for ambulance transport, hospital care, other health services, and burial or cremation expenses for indigent people. It can also cover related county administrative costs and county obligations under Section 27-10-4 NMSA 1978.
