Dedicated fund for commission work

Beginning July 1, 2025, the state creates an Account for the Nevada-Ireland Trade Commission. The commission runs the Account and uses it only for its duties, including travel, meals, and lodging. It may apply for grants and accept gifts and bequests from public or private sources. Interest earned stays in the Account, and money does not revert at year end. The law does not set any initial funding.

Help for Nevada businesses trading with Ireland

Beginning July 1, 2025, Nevada runs a new commission to grow trade with Ireland. It studies and recommends ways to boost trade, investment, and exchanges. It also works on joint policy and infrastructure ties. The state economic development office provides staff and support so the commission can do this work.

How the trade commission is run

Beginning July 1, 2025, the commission has nine members: two Senators, two Assembly members, and five Governor appointees. Governor picks include higher education, a chamber or trade group, and an Irish-American community rep. Members serve two-year terms and can be reappointed; vacancies are filled for the rest of the term. Legislator members leave the day after the general election if they do not run again or lose. The commission elects a chair and vice chair for one year, meets when called by the chair or a majority, needs a majority to act, and members get no salary but do get state per diem and travel.

Yearly report on trade progress

Each year by October 1, the commission sends a written report on its work and recommendations. In even-numbered years, it goes to the next regular legislative session; in odd-numbered years, to the Legislative Commission. A copy also goes to the Governor.
