Bill Overview

Analyzed Economic Effects

3 provisions identified: 0 benefits, 1 costs, 2 mixed.

Nevada may owe Compact dues

Beginning January 1, 2026, the Compact’s Commission can bill member states each year to fund its work. Nevada may owe an annual assessment. The amount and formula are set later by Commission rule.

Easier cross-state practice for counselors

Starting January 1, 2026, Nevada joins the Counseling Compact. Licensed counselors with a home-state license that meets Compact rules can get a Privilege to Practice in Nevada, including by telehealth. Nevada treats a Compact Privilege like a Nevada clinical counselor license. Counselors must follow the laws where the client is located. Nevada may charge a fee to grant the Privilege.

License data sharing with privacy limits

Starting January 1, 2026, Nevada sends counselor licensing data to the Compact’s central database. The data can include license history, denials, complaints, and key investigation details. The Board can share investigation records with other boards and law enforcement. Some Compact records are kept confidential and may be redacted from public release.
