Reporting starts in 2026 school year

The law takes effect July 1, 2025. The first report is due by the first day of the 2026–2027 school year. That report must cover the 2025–2026 school year. After that, reports are due each year on the first day of school.

Schools must post police force reports

School districts that employ school police and charter schools that contract for them must post a yearly report on their website. It is due by the first day of each school year and covers the prior year. The report must count incidents that used a baton, a chemical agent, or an electronic stun device. For each incident, it must note where it happened and whether it was during school or a school event. Districts with more than 75 school police officers must list each involved officer’s rank and years employed. Reports must include group data on age, race, gender, and ethnicity, with no personal identifiers; the law defines the devices and officers covered.
