Faster Nevada licenses for out-of-state therapists

If you hold a valid, unrestricted marriage and family therapist or clinical professional counselor license from any U.S. state, territory, or D.C., Nevada must license you by endorsement when you meet the law’s requirements. The Board must tell you within 15 business days if it needs more information. After you submit all required items, it must issue your license within 45 days unless it denies for good cause. The Board President can issue licenses between meetings to avoid delays. The Board may grant a provisional license so you can practice while your application is pending, under Board rules.

Eligibility checks and fees for endorsement licenses

To get a Nevada license by endorsement, you must show no disciplinary actions by your home licensing board and no civil or criminal malpractice liability anywhere in the U.S. You must submit fingerprints and allow state and FBI background checks. You must sign an affidavit that your application is true, pay the Board’s application and initial license fees, and provide any other documents the Board requires. The law removes the old “no investigation” rule, so being investigated but not disciplined does not block you.
