Lawsuit shield for gun hold agreements

The law gives licensed firearm dealers and local police civil immunity for acts or omissions tied to a firearm hold agreement. This covers claims, even if someone is hurt or killed after the gun is returned. The immunity does not apply if they act with gross negligence, reckless or unlawful conduct, or if, when the owner comes to pick up the gun, they know the person will likely use it illegally, harm themselves or others, or is barred under NRS 202.360. A firearm hold agreement can be written or spoken and means the owner asks a dealer or police to hold the gun and return it later under agreed terms. A licensed firearm dealer means someone with a federal license under 18 U.S.C. § 923(a).
