Large districts must offer the Teacher Academy at every high school with 250 or more students. Schools that offer it must advertise it, assign a full‑time licensed teacher if more than two class periods run, assess 9th graders for barriers, and name a coordinator. Students can get internships in grades 11–12, earn up to 12 college credits through aligned dual credit, and qualified completers get guaranteed admission to Nevada public colleges. Districts can hire graduates as paraprofessionals while in college and must give hiring decisions by January 31; teachers may get a college faculty mentor if the district signs an agreement. To complete the program, students must finish two academic years and at least 15 hours of work‑based learning; remote schools can seek State Board exemptions from internships or dual credit if compliance is impracticable; families can request a board hearing within 30 days on disputed decisions.
Beginning July 1, 2025, the State Treasurer runs a program to repay tuition and mandatory fees for people who complete the Teacher Academy, finish a Nevada teacher‑prep program, file the FAFSA, and teach full time in Nevada public schools. After one or two consecutive years of licensed teaching, you can get up to one‑third of your eligible tuition and fees per year. After three or more consecutive years, you can get full reimbursement. If you could not finish the Teacher Academy for reasons beyond your control, you may still qualify. Money already covered by scholarships, waivers, or similar aid is not reimbursed, but amounts paid with student loans can be.
The state office can approve or start an inland port or industrial park. Local governments must hold at least two public hearings with notice and maps, and ordinances must list boundaries, office location, name, and board size. Boards have an odd number of local appointees with staggered four‑year terms; authorities can promote sites and manage rights‑of‑way but need consent to alter state highways or railroads, and two‑thirds approval to charge fees. Areas must be contiguous, exclude residential property, and get municipal consent to include a city‑owned airport; in counties with 700,000+ people, only the county commission may apply. Members can withdraw with notice, and dissolution needs board approval, debts paid, no suits pending, and a successor to take over property.
Local governments that create an inland port or industrial park can set up a tax increment area. New property tax growth in that area goes into a special account to pay project costs and bonds. Governments can issue notes and bonds, including general obligations, and can amend ordinances to change projects or add or remove land with separate accounting. Multiple governments may use a joint agreement, and these tax increments are excluded from the usual ad valorem revenue cap. Projects must follow public‑works laws, and a tax increment area cannot be created unless the board finds the project necessary and a public hearing finds it will benefit the park.
The law creates a statewide Career Pathways Oversight Committee with state leaders and district representatives. The State Board must set the Teacher Academy curriculum and can make more rules to run it. The law also defines which programs count as career pathways, so schools know what rules apply.
