Bill Overview

Analyzed Economic Effects

3 provisions identified: 2 benefits, 0 costs, 1 mixed.

New eviction-help funds across Nevada

Nevada provides $21 million for eviction diversion. $15 million goes to Clark County, $5.25 million to Reno, and $750,000 to the Nevada Rural Housing Authority. Each can run programs or give grants, but admin costs are capped at 10% of each award. No funds can be committed after June 30, 2027 or spent after September 17, 2027; any leftover money reverts by September 17, 2027. The law is in effect now.

Reno eviction help must include neighbors

Reno-funded eviction programs cannot block residents of unincorporated Washoe County or the City of Sparks. They also cannot set stricter rules for them than for Reno residents. This opens equal access to renters in those nearby areas.

Spending reports and audits for funds

Clark County, Reno, and the Nevada Rural Housing Authority must file two spending reports to the Interim Finance Committee. The interim report is due by December 18, 2026 and covers spending through December 1, 2026. The final report is due by September 17, 2027 and covers spending through June 30, 2027. They must also give records to the Legislative Auditor on request.
