Bill Overview

Analyzed Economic Effects

3 provisions identified: 1 benefits, 1 costs, 1 mixed.

Set daily pay and raises for legislative staff

Beginning July 1, 2025, the law sets base daily pay for listed Senate and Assembly jobs. Examples: House Clerk 12 is $261.02 per day and House Clerk 01 is $143.37 per day. These base amounts rise by each cost‑of‑living raise given to classified state employees on or after July 1, 2025. The Secretary of the Senate or Chief Clerk may also grant one 5% step per regular session for prior legislative service and 5% steps for similar Legislative Counsel Bureau service, up to the state schedule limit.

Salary caps for many state jobs

Beginning July 1, 2025, the law sets a maximum yearly salary for many named state jobs. If your title is listed, your pay cannot go over the cap shown for that job. Agencies must follow these ceilings when setting pay. This limits raises for anyone already at or above the cap.

More deputy directors for Office of Finance

Beginning July 1, 2025, the Director of the Office of Finance may appoint one or more Deputy Directors. Each deputy serves at will, is in the unclassified service, and must work full time for the Office. Deputies may not run other businesses or hold another paid office unless NRS 284.143 allows it.
