Bill Overview

Analyzed Economic Effects

4 provisions identified: 2 benefits, 1 costs, 1 mixed.

Longer deposit window for Parks and Wildlife

The Department of Wildlife and the Division of State Parks get more time to bank large daily receipts. If $10,000 or more is collected in one day, these agencies have up to 10 working days to deposit it.

State agencies must make weekly deposits

The State Treasurer names which banks and credit unions can hold state money. All state officers, departments, and commissions must deposit last week’s receipts by Thursday. If $10,000 or more builds up in a day, they must deposit it by the next working day. All deposits must go to a Treasurer-designated institution and credit the State Treasurer’s Account. A financial institution means a bank, savings and loan, savings bank, thrift company, or credit union regulated under title 55 of NRS.

Criminal penalty for officials who miss deposits

Officers, department heads, and commissioners who do not follow these deposit rules commit a misdemeanor in office. The law makes noncompliance a criminal offense for these officials.

Faster handling of child support payments

The child support office must move big daily totals quickly. If $10,000 or more is collected in one day, it must be deposited within 2 working days. If the person owed support cannot be identified within 2 working days, the office has 5 working days from accumulation to act. It must deposit the money if the person is identified, or return it to the payor if not.
