Bill Overview

Analyzed Economic Effects

2 provisions identified: 0 benefits, 2 costs, 0 mixed.

One-year license ban for unlicensed bidders

If you bid on a Nevada job worth $1,000 or more, including labor and materials, without a contractor license, the Board can refuse to license you for up to 1 year. The 1-year period starts on the date you submitted the bid. You cannot get a Nevada contractor license during that time.

Tough penalties for interfering with Board cases

The Contractors' Board can discipline anyone who interferes with its investigations or cases, including threats, harassment, or trying to influence evidence or witnesses. Lawful defense and actions allowed by existing statutes still apply. It is also a crime to interfere. A first offense carries a $1,000 to $4,000 fine and up to 6 months in jail; a second offense, $4,000 to $10,000 and up to 364 days; a third or later offense, $10,000 to $20,000 and 1 to 4 years in prison.
