Outdoor learning and access grants for kids

Nevada offers grants for outdoor learning and public access projects. Public agencies, nonprofits, and community groups can apply. Student programs must give hands-on time in nature and link to lessons about the environment, agriculture, or natural resources. Grants focus on pupils who are low income, likely to fail, or at risk of dropping out. Poverty is measured by free or reduced-price meals or another state measure. Selection favors research-based teaching, healthy lifestyles, broad student participation, use of state parks and staff, matching funds or in-kind help, partnerships, evaluation, and reporting. Public access projects must promote health, care for natural and cultural resources, support the outdoor economy, and fit local or state plans. The Division of Outdoor Recreation runs the program and sets rules.

Law starts July 1, 2025

The law takes effect on July 1, 2025. All parts start that day unless a section names a different date.
