Study to stabilize Home Feeds funding

Beginning July 1, 2025, the Council on Food Security studies the Home Feeds Nevada program during the 2025-2026 interim. It reviews how the program works and finds sustainable funding sources. By December 1, 2026, the Council must send a written report to the Agriculture Director and to the Legislative Counsel Bureau for the 84th Legislature. The Council may request one related bill by December 1, 2026. That bill must be prefiled before the first day of the 84th Session or it is withdrawn.

Short-term funding for Home Feeds program

Beginning July 1, 2025, the state provides $800,000 to the Nutritious Food Purchase Account. The State Department of Agriculture uses it to run the Home Feeds Nevada Agriculture Food Purchase Program. No new spending commitments after June 30, 2027. No spending after September 17, 2027. Any money left must return to the State General Fund by September 17, 2027. The law does not set a payment amount per household.
